Sherry condemns Israel’s plan to occupy Gaza

ISLAMABAD: Vice-President of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and parliamentary leader of the PPP in the Senate, Sherry Rehman, has condemned Israel’s reported plan to impose a military occupation on Gaza, calling it “a blatant attempt to turn oppression into policy under the false cover of security.”

“Under the guise of security, Israel is making a failed attempt to legitimise its occupation of Gaza. This is not just a military manoeuvre; it is a conspiracy to make oppression part of the global system,” she said in a statement on Friday.

Senator Sherry Rehman warned that Israel’s tactics—choking off food, water, and medicine—amount to “the worst and most cold-blooded example of systematic genocide.”

“Starving an entire population into submission is a crime against humanity,” she stressed. “Israel is using hunger as a weapon of war to force an entire generation to its knees. Gaza’s hospitals are closed, children are collapsing from exhaustion, and parents stand helpless. Is this what the international system dares to call justice?”

She called for urgent accountability for Israel’s actions, stating: “The killer of 61,000 innocent lives must be brought to justice. Israeli leadership must be made to answer for these atrocities before the International Court of Justice.”

Senator Rehman said that more than two million Palestinians remain trapped under siege. “This is not just a humanitarian crisis; it is a defining test for humanity itself. By banning food and water in Gaza, Israel is making it clear that oppression is now official policy.”

She further asserted that the global community needs to act: “The world is taking notice—countries such as the UK and Australia have urged Israel not to take military control of Gaza. Even Israel’s opposition leader has labelled the move a ‘disaster.’ Justice must be delivered to the oppressed people of Palestine, and it must be delivered swiftly.”
