LAHORE: The meeting of Central Ruet-e-Hilal committee and led by Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman is underway to sight the Shawwal moon.
Whereas, the meetings of zonal committees have also begun at their respective offices.
According to Meteorological Office there is a chance for the sighting of new moon of Shawwal 1437 AH on the evening of July 5 on 29th of Ramzan 1437 AH.
The new moon of Shawwal 1437 AH has born on crossing conjunction point at 16-01 PST on July 04 officials Met office said.
The officials said the crescent of Shawwal could be seen in Lahore and its adjacent areas today (Tuesday).
The official announcement about the sighting of moon will be announced by Central Ruet-e-Hilal committee Chairman Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman.
So far, the moon has not been sighted in the Gulf countries. Eid will fall on Wednesday for Saudi Arabia and the other Gulf states.
The moon for the month of Shawwal signifies the end of the holy month of Ramazan, marking the start of Eid-ul-Fitr. Eid day is a celebration of the end of Ramazan, when Muslims can eat and drink during the normal times and not fast from dawn till sunset.
