Pakistan records all-time high $38.3bn remittances in FY25
Pakistan receives $3.4bn remittances in June 2025, reflecting 8% rise compared to same month last year
KARACHI: Pakistan received $3.4 billion in workers’ remittances in June 2025, reflecting an 8% rise compared to the same month last year, according to figures released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Wednesday.
With this strong monthly inflow, total remittances for FY25 surged by 26.6% to a record $38.3 billion, up from $30.3 billion in FY24.
This marks the highest annual remittance figure in the country’s history, giving a significant boost to Pakistan’s external account and household consumption capacity.
According to the SBP, the majority of remittances during June came from Saudi Arabia ($823.2 million), followed by the United Arab Emirates ($717.2 million), United Kingdom ($537.6 million), and the United States ($281.2 million).
Topline Securities CEO Mohammad Sohail described the inflows as “a big source of support for the economy, helping bridge external gaps and boosting household incomes.”
Meanwhile, Adviser to the Finance Minister, Khurram Schehzad, termed the achievement “massive” in a post on X, saying it “reflects growing trust of overseas Pakistanis in the economy and policy measures.”
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his satisfaction at the record-high remittances received during the fiscal year 2024-25 and resolved that the government was committed to economic prosperity after bringing economic stability.
He, as per a statement from the PM Office, termed the remittances increase by 26.6% as a positive trend.
"The record surge in remittances reflects expatriate Pakistanis’ valuable contributions and their confidence in the national economy," the prime minister added.
He further opined that the recent positive economic indicators were a manifestation of the government’s policies towards the right direction.
