KARACHI: The wife of slain customs inspector Ejaz Chaudhry alleged in a petition on Monday that her husband had been murdered at the behest of supermodel Ayyan Ali.
According to details, the petition was filed by the widow of the slain investigating officer in the Ayyan Ali money laundering case, Ejaz Chaudhry. The petition stated that Chaudhry had been murdered while he was investigating the supermodel over charges of money laundering.
The petition filed by Saima Chaudhry also stated that her husband had recorded a statement against Ayyan in the currency smuggling case. During the investigation of the case, she claimed that her husband had been murdered.
Saima also claimed that her husband was in-charge of a warehouse where the amount recovered from Ayyan Ali was kept.
Ejaz Chaudhry was killed last year after being named as the investigating officer in supermodel Ayyan Ali's money laundering case. Ayyan had been charged with currency smuggling and money laundering last year after more than USD 500,000 were recovered from her luggage, as she was about to board a Dubai-bound flight.
The supermodel was sent to Adiala Jail where she was kept for four months before getting released on bail. She has subsequently tried to fly out of the country but has been stopped by authorities numerous times.
