KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah Saturday announced Rs10 million’s financial assistance for the family of slain Sufi Singer Amjad Sabri.

Addressing in the Sindh Assembly the Chief Minister said that the provincial government will provide a suitable job to the widow of Amjad Sabri and his children’s educational expenses would also be borne by the government.

Syed Qaim Ali Shah told the house that the killers of Amjad Sabri will be arrested very soon; adding that some leads have been obtained but these developments cannot be shared right now.

He said that some people have confessed and claimed the responsibility of kidnapping of Awais Shah, the son of Chief Justice SHC. “He would be recovered soon,” the Chief Minister said.

He said the people involved in journalist Wali Babar have been arrested from 90, the headquarters of MQM in Karachi.

“Comparing with the other provinces, the law and order situation is much better in Sindh,” he claimed.

The Chief Minister announced Rs10million reward each for providing information about the assassins of Amjad Sabri and the kidnappers of Awais Ali Shah.

The chief minister said a nine-member committee had been formed for Owais Shah’s kidnapping.

Speaking about the Karachi Operation he said that the provincial government had given autonomy to DG Rangers and IG Police. “However during the operation citizens should not be disturbed,” he said.

He added that the last three Eid had passed peacefully in Karachi.

However he lamented that law enforcers sometimes create unnecessary problems. “The Federal Investigation Agency harassed the government, raided Civic Centre and took away 13000 files,” he said.
