Jay-Z rape accuser's lawyer slams rapper's 'intimidation tactic'
Tony Buzbee responded to Jay-Z's statement denying that he was involved in the rape of a 13-year-old in 2020
Attorney Tony Buzbee is standing his ground against Jay-Z’s denial of explosive allegations involving Diddy and a 2000 MTV VMAs afterparty.
Responding to Jay-Z’s claim that the lawsuit is a “blackmail attempt,” Buzbee took to X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, December 8, alleging that his client “never demanded a penny” and only sought “a confidential mediation.”
The lawsuit, which accuses Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs of raping a then-13-year-old girl, has escalated tensions between the parties.
Buzbee accused Jay-Z, whose legal name is Shawn Carter, of filing a “frivolous case under a pseudonym” back in November in an attempt to intimidate him and his client. “Since I sent the letter on her behalf, Mr. Carter has… tried to bully and harass me and this plaintiff,” Buzbee stated.
Meanwhile, Jay-Z released a fiery statement to Page Six, calling Buzbee an “ambulance chaser in a cheap suit” and rejecting any notion of settling. “No sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public fashion,” the Empire State of Mind rapper wrote, vowing not to pay “ONE RED PENNY.”
Court filings obtained by Page Six detail accusations that both Jay-Z and Combs sexually assaulted a minor whose identity was not disclosed, with further allegations that Combs hosted drug-fueled parties where assaults occurred.
Buzbee, representing over 100 alleged victims in related cases against Combs, has promised to litigate these claims “in court, not in the media.”
The legal battles come as Combs faces separate charges of racketeering, prostitution, and sex trafficking. He remains in custody without bail despite ongoing appeals.
