Dolly Parton is getting real about celebrating Christmas with family as she reveals her favourite holiday dishes.
The Grammy-winning country legend, who previously lost her brother, opened up to People Magazine about spending the holiday with family.
Parton didn't hesitate to share her stance on turning down a lucrative offer if it meant missing the holiday festivities.
The Jolene singer, who is currently occupied with the promotions of her first-ever holiday-themed children’s book Dolly Parton’s Billy the Kid Comes Homes for Christmas, shared how the holiday sentiment inspired the book’s heartfelt story.
She told the outlet, “In this book, performers have the dilemma of whether we go on the road or whether we take shows for money, because so many artists get so much money offered to actually perform at certain things during the holiday season.
“But to love your family, and for that to be a family tradition. You always want to be home for Christmas, and that's kind of what this little book is about.”
The 78-year-old’s book revolves around Billy the Kid, a character inspired by her real-life French bulldog.
