Camila Cabello reflects on 'jealousy' and 'feeling left out' in Fifth Harmony
The 'Havana' hitmaker reflected on the lack of tools to 'address these feelings at such a young age in the spotlight'
Camila Cabello is opening up about her Fifth Harmony days.
In a recent Nylon interview, the Havana hitmaker shared insights into the challenges she and her bandmates — Normani, Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane, and Lauren Jauregui — faced as teenagers thrust into fame after The X Factor.
Cabello, now 27, reflected on how being so young made navigating group dynamics especially tough. “How do you deal with being left out? How do you deal with jealousy?” she asked, noting the lack of tools to address these feelings at such a young age in the spotlight.
“How do you deal with these things without hurting yourself or other people?” she added, noting that “those are skills you don’t have when you’re 16 years old.”
The star admitted that fame only added pressure to an already challenging situation. “It’s hard to say what’s normal, whether you’re famous or not. My barometer wasn’t functional. It was more than a person should bear [in that situation],” she explained.
Fifth Harmony rose to fame with hits like Worth It and Work From Home but faced their share of internal struggles before Cabello departed in 2016. Despite the challenges, she looks back on the experience with grace and a deeper understanding of conflict resolution.
Since going solo, Cabello has carved out her own path with four albums, including her 2024 release C,XOXO.
