ISLAMABAD: The fashion for hiring of horse carriages during the wedding ceremonies of twin cities Islamabad and Rawalpindi have increased for last few years.
The beautiful horse carriages (buggies) attract people in large number especially during wedding season while bridegrooms are also keen to use the buggies to increase their joys, said horse carriage owner.
Decorated buggies are seen at committee chowk and different places of Rawalpindi once buggies were used to hire by those who cannot afford the decorated cars but it has become a fashion these days among the young as it is a fascinating touch to the wedding.
This past tradition is becoming a fast trend mostly people hire decorated buggies rather than decorated cars said a Marriage Hall owner at 6th Road.
Muhammad Afzal Khokhar horse carriage owner at Committee Chowk said we charge Rs 10 000 to Rs 12 000 for a single function of Barat which include all the embellishments.
The charges depend on the facilities we provide including lights flowers generator music and extra ordinary decorative material, he said.
Zahid Majeed a groom said my family is very much interested in hiring a buggy on my wedding day especially my sister.
A buggy wala at Rawalpindi said I charge around thousands of rupee for Barat function (Wedding ceremony) according to the embellishment on the buggy.
