ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali has summoned a meeting of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) on June 6 to consider recommendations of seven names for appointing additional judges of the Sindh High Court.
Chief Justice Sindh High Court Justice Sajjad Ali Shah has recommended seven names including a District & Sessions Judge Rasheed Ahmed Soomro, Advocate Arshed Hussain Khan, Advocate Masood Khan, Advocate Saleem Jessar, Advocate Abdul Hamid Barakzai, Advocate Hamayoon Khan and Advocate Sarfaraz Akhund for the appointment of additional judges of the High Court.
Meanwhile the Chief Justice of Pakistan also convened a separate special meeting of the Judicial Commission on June 6 to consider proposed amendments in Rules 2010 of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan.
Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) has purposed some amendments in the JCP Rules 2000 seeking the transfer of discretionary powers regarding appointment of superior court judges from the chairman to the commission.
