Panama Papers: first meeting of Parliamentary committee convened on Wednesday
ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq has convened the first meeting of the Parliamentary committee, formed to formulate terms of references (ToRs) on Panama Papers on Wednesday.
According to the spokesman for National Assembly Secretariat, the meeting will be held at 4:00 p.m in the chamber of the Speaker. Formal notification of constitution of the committee will be issues on Tuesday after the government finalized the six names and sent it to NA Speaker.
The committee comprises six members each from the government and the joint opposition.
The government has named Senator Hasil Bazinjo, Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Akram Khan Durrani and Anusha Rahman to represent them in the committee.
The joint opposition has already proposed names of their six members including Senator Aitzaz Ahsan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Ilyas Bilour, Barrister Saifullah, Tariqullah and Tariq Bashir Cheema.
The National Assembly on Thursday approved the resolution for forming a 12-member parliamentary committee of the government and opposition members to finalise terms ToRs.
