Saudi Arabia has announced it will change all its streetlights to LED to conserve energy, making it the first G20 country to do so.
During the opening day of the Global Project Management Forum 2024, which is being held in Riyadh from June 2 to 3, Mohammed Muaafa, the technical services director of Tarshid, a national energy company, stated during a panel titled "Saudi Vision 2030 Outlook" that the company has worked on numerous projects to conserve electricity in various types of commercial and residential projects throughout the Kingdom.
These initiatives support the Kingdom's goals of reaching net-zero emissions by 2060 and producing 50% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030.
During the discussion, he said: "We will be the first country in the G20 that fulfils this goal of turning all the street lamps into energy-saving ones."
He said the project has helped us save 70–75% of energy.
