RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Army Chief General Raheel Sharif has confirmed the death sentence of 5 terrorists involved in Safoora Goth incident and rights activist Sabeen Mahmud’s murder in Karachi.
This was stated by General Asim Bajwa, Director General ISPR in his tweet saying “COAS confirms death sentence to 5 hardcore terrorist perpetrator of Safoora Buss Attack, Sabeen Mahmud’s killing, IED near Saleh Masjid – Military Court”.

The convicts Tahir Hussain Minhas, Saad Aziz, Asad ur Rehman, Hafiz Nasir and Mohammad Azhar Ishrat were tried by military courts.
A year ago, on May 13, 2015 the gunmen attacked a bus travelling in Safoora Goth, Karachi. The shooting left at least 46 people dead. All the victims were belonging to the Ismaili Shia Muslim minority.
The same group was involved in the murder of rights activist Sabeen Mahmud. She was shot dead by the gunmen on her way home after hosting a seminar at T2F in Karachi on 24 April, 2015.
