Kelly Clarkson teamed up with Rivers Cuomo and Patrick Wilson on Weezer’s version of Say It Ain’t So on her show this week.
Wilson and Cuomo, Weezer band members, appeared on May 15 episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show and joined forces with the Stronger singer to perform a duet rendition of Say It Ain’t So.
Clarkson also talked about the band’s 30th anniversary of 1994 debut album.
The episode kicked off with a dynamic performance during the Kellyoke segment, featuring Chris Cuomo and Kelly Clarkson sharing lead vocals. Clarkson brought her signature powerhouse vocals to the table, belting out the lyrics with enthusiasm.
After the energetic performance, she expressed her excitement by striking a triumphant pose, squatting down and throwing her arms up in the air.
“This is the best day. This happened. I’ve literally never been cool in my life until now,” exclaimed the talk show host, 41. “I’m trying not to smile and be cool.”
Weezer posted the following day that Clarkson “gave us a run for our money on Kellyoke”.
Elsewhere in the show, the band members also discussed plans regarding upcoming tour which will celebrate Weezer (Blue Alum) and its hits Say It Ain't So, Buddy Holly and Undone — The Sweater Song.
Clarkson recalled seeing the band in concert years ago. "I’m not kidding. I told y’all in rehearsal. I didn’t even know if y’all knew I was there," she said.
"It was years ago, but it was one of the coolest shows — not just musically, like sonic, everything. The video was cool. You put on a hell of a show, I’m just saying. You should go check them out."
