'Shy' Chef James Martin desperate to keep his love life 'more private'
Celebrity chef James Martin split with longtime girlfriend in March
Celebrity chef James Martin recently opened up about his relationship, addressing why he’s “shy” about private life following his split from former girlfriend.
Confirming that he had a split from his long-term girlfriend in March this year, Martin offered a glimpse into his private life.
The celebrity chef claimed that he followed advice from Sir Cliff Richard about maintaining personal space.
Speaking on the Spooning with Mark Wogan podcast, James explained himself after Mark suggested he was “shy.”
Mark emphasized: “We've met various times over the years and what strikes me... is you're on stage with your tour soon...you're on TV every weekend but also very private and kind of...a little bit shy."
Responding to host, Martin admitted: "I didn't sign up for this. I enjoy it, don't get me wrong, [but] I didn't sign up for that. And I remember I was actually talking to... Cliff Richard and he said, 'The private life is your separate.’”
Martin also admitted to being “nervous” ahead of his upcoming shows.
He shared: "I used to walk past the Palladium and I never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be there on a Sunday night headlining the entire gig on my own. And not just once, four times.”
"And you go on there and you walk out and the place is rammed and you're nervous because I'm shy," he added.
