Global tech giant Apple is quickly losing sales worldwide as iPhone sales have fallen by 10% in the first quarter of year 2024, despite a broader market recovery, CNN reported.
As Apple continues to lose momentum, Samsung has become No. 1 smartphone company in terms of worldwide shipments.
Apple is back to the second spot, with 17.3% market share.
Research Director Nabila Popal at International Data Challenge (IDC) said: "This year, we are expecting Android to grow at twice the pace of iOS."
According to Business Insider, global smartphone shipments spiked by 7.8% to 289.4 million units during January-March, and as South Korea's Samsung stood at 20.8% market share, it was clear which company was the new top phone maker.
Chinese firms like Xiaomi and Transsion are also gaining momentum in phone market as Xiaomi saw shipments increase by 33.8% in the first quarter, while Transsion shipments increased by 84.9%.
Apple’s business in China is facing difficulties as iPhone revenue fell by 13% in the first quarter of the year and is anticipated to have fallen much more.
The decline highlights challenges faced by the US firm in its third biggest market, as some Chinese companies and government agencies limit employees' use of Apple devices, a measure that mirrors US government restrictions on Chinese apps on security grounds.
