The banks across the country will remain closed tomorrow (March 23) on account of Pakistan Day, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said on Friday.
The central bank announced the bank holiday a day ahead of the celebration of Pakistan Day, which is a gazetted public holiday.
"The State Bank of Pakistan will remain closed on March 23, 2024 (Saturday) being public holiday on the occasion of ‘Pakistan Day’ as declared by the Government of Pakistan," a notification stated.
The nation celebrates Pakistan Day every year on March 23 to commemorate the adoption of Lahore Resolution on the same day in 1947, which called for the creation of an independent sovereign state for the Muslims of the sub-continent.
The historic event took place at Minar-e-Pakistan, Lahore, marking a significant development in the achievement of a separate country.
