Who voices the fire-breathing dragon in Millie Bobby Brown’s 'Damsel'?
The artist, who voiced the fiery dragon in Damsel revealed vocal techniques she employed for desired outcome
The casting department of Damsel, starring Millie Bobby Brown, has been lauded for matching the smokiest voice in Hollywood with the scene-stealing dragon.
The Wrap confirmed on Friday, March 15 that Shohreh Aghdashloo voiced the fire-breathing dragon in the Netflix film.
Shedding light on any other techniques the actress applied to bring the Damsel’s fiery creature to life, Aghdashloo spilled the beans in a recent behind-the-scenes featurette.
"I decided to use a diaphragm voice for her," she explained. "The dragon is all diaphragm because she’s been wounded badly and deeply, and that’s why the voice does not come from the head."
"It comes from the mansion full of pain," she went on.
For her on-screen credits, the 71-year-old actress played the TV roles of Chrisjen Avasarala in The Expanse and Dina Araz in 24 season 4.
The Emmy Award-winning actress was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Supporting Actress category for her stellar performance in The House of Sand and Frog.
Aghdashloo, who hails from Iran, not only landed her voice to the giant dragon in Damsel but also voiced Forouzan in Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight, Queen Janna in The Lion Guard, and Grayson in Arcane.
