Brian Wilson’s dementia battle ‘getting worse’ after wife’s death
Brian Wilson has been unable to look after himself after wife’s death amid dementia battle
Brian Wilson is currently suffering from dementia and is being treated for the disorder.
The Beach Boys star’s team is in the midst of seeking legal authority to assist him with medical care. According to reports, the actor is currently unable to look after his basic needs, including food, clothing or shelter.
Due to his history of dealing with fear, depression, and helplessness, the 81-year-old singer is unable to properly treat the illness.
The documents confirmed his inability to deal with the disorder on his own, stating: "The (proposed) conservatee does NOT have the capacity to informed consent to the administration of medications appropriate to the care and treatment of major neurocognitive disorders (including dementia.)"
"The deficits in mental function assessed...significantly impair the (proposed) conservatee's ability to understand and appreciate the consequences of giving consent to the administration of medications for the care and treatment of major neurocognitive disorders."
Speaking of Wilson’s condition, the doctor assured: "He is easily distracted, often even when aware of surroundings, and its purpose. Often makes spontaneous irrelevant or incoherent utterances. Has very short attention span and while unintentionally disruptive, is frequently unable to maintain decorum appropriate to the situation."
Brian is currently taking medication to “slow the progression” of his illness.
The American musician's wife was looking after his daily needs before her death on January 30, 2024, leaving Wilson on his own.
