Lionel Messi, Inter Miami players touch down in Hong Kong after defeat by Cristiano Ronaldo's team

Lionel Messi and his Inter Miami colleagues arrived in Hong Kong as part of their ongoing global preseason trip on Friday morning after a defeat by Cristiano Ronaldo's team.

Al-Nassr beat the MLS team 6-0 on Thursday night, even though the Saudi team was missing its two best players — Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane — due to travel to Riyadh.

In light of rumours that he had already undergone an MRI to rule out an injury, Messi began that match on the bench.

But even with the score already at 6-0, he entered the game in the 83rd minute and continued to play while his old rival Ronaldo watched from the stands.

Messi was allegedly experiencing some "discomfort" during their friendly match against Al-Hilal on Monday. The extent of his ailment is still unknown, according to Daily Mail.

Shortly after arriving in the Asian nation, Luis Suarez spoke to the media and was asked about his feelings about being back with Messi in Miami.

"I am very happy, after many years of not playing together to share again, not only the field but the day-to-day life with him," he said.

"Being able to enjoy this last stage that we have left as soccer players and also as friends."

The 36-year-old, who has won five La Liga titles, the Champions League, and the Copa America, spent six years at Barcelona with Messi.

Miami is currently on a worldwide tour and will fly over 23,000 miles to prepare for the upcoming MLS season next month.

Before going to Saudi Arabia they played the El Salvador national team and FC Dallas, and will also face a Hong Kong league XI and Vissel Kobe next week.

The club will then return to South Florida to play one final friendly vs Newell's Old Boys – Messi's childhood club.

Miami, who also boat Messi and Suarez's former Barcelona teammates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, won the Leagues Cup last season but failed to qualify for the postseason.
