Messi and Suarez goals not enough as Inter Miami fall 4-3 to Al Hilal
Inter Miami are geared up to face Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr in their next Saudi friendly on Thursday
With one goal each from Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez for Inter Miami, Al Hilal secured a 4-3 victory in a friendly clash held at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh.
The spectacle commenced with former Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic putting Al Hilal in the lead with a well-executed finish in the 10th minute. The Saudi side continued their dominance as Abdullah Al-Hamdan doubled the advantage just three minutes later, capitalising on a defensive error.
Miami responded with determination, and the breakthrough came in the 34th minute. A lofted pass from Jordi Alba found Julian Gressel, setting up Luis Suarez to slot the ball into an empty net. The initial offside call was overturned after a VAR check, and Miami was back in contention.
However, Al Hilal extended their lead just before halftime, with Brazilian forward Michael nodding home a cross from Al-Hamdan. The first half concluded with Al Hilal leading 3-1.
The second half witnessed a spirited comeback from Inter Miami, with Lionel Messi converting a penalty in the 54th minute after a contentious foul on David Ruiz. Just moments later, Messi orchestrated a brilliant play, setting up Ruiz for a powerful strike that leveled the score at 3-3.
As the game hung in the balance, Brazilian forward Malcom delivered a decisive blow, heading home in the 88th minute to secure a 4-3 victory for Al Hilal.
The journey continues for Inter Miami as they prepare to face Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr in their next Saudi friendly on Thursday, promising more thrilling moments on their pre-season tour.
