Los Angeles New Year's party shooting kills 2, injures 8
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims who lost their lives in the shooting in Los Angeles
As many as two people were fatally shot after an armed person opened fire at a New Year’s party at the building in the 2300 block of Porter Street Los Angeles Monday leaving another eight injured, local media reported.
Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) noted that three people were taken to the hospital for different conditions. The majority of the injured went to hospital by themselves, said LAPD Lt. Adkins.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims who lost their lives in the shooting. The dead victims were a male and a female in their 20s.
The current conditions of the victims also remain unknown.
The local police believe that the dead people were not homeless, adding that they are in the process of finding out the motive of the shooting.
According to ABC7, people rushed to the location after finding a disturbing video of the shooting in Los Angeles on social media.
People believed that their family member may have been there, adding that police told them to go home and that they would receive a call about their family member.
Authorities have not arrest any suspect so far with no identification of the shooter at the moment.
The officers are not ruling out the possibility of gang-related violence.
"People were running, falling," a witness told NBCLA adding that "it was just hard to see because it was just so graphic."
The Los Angeles Police Department noted that there is no information regarding the suspect however, they were looking at surveillance video.
