RAJANPUR: Army troops have been sent to rescue 18 policemen held hostage by a notorious group of gangsters in south Punjab.
The operation in Punjab’s riverine area was launched by police against Chhotu gang as part of an operation against militants and criminal elements after a deadly bombing killed over 60 people at a park in Lahore last month.

Punjab police suspended the operation on Wednesday after the gang captured 22 policemen. Four of the injured policemen were released by Chottu gang.
Talking to media in Hyderabad, Sindh Home Minister Suhail Anwar Siyal said the provincial government would take measures to stop the members of the group from entering Sindh.
Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah speaking to the media said that the gangsters have sanctuaries in the riverine area which are difficult to identify.
