Jamal Simmons land’s role on a Television news network.
Jamal Simmons joins CNN as an on-air political contributor after serving as Vice President Kamala Harris' communications director up until the beginning of this year.
Prior to accepting the position with Harris, Simmons was a regular on TV as a political commentator for CBS News and NPR. He further conducted online interviews for Hill TV. He formerly served as a senior consultant to the Democratic National Committee, an Obama campaign surrogate, and the Raben Group, where he provided political and foundation executives with advice.
Simmons joins other Biden players in the cable industry and will be located in New York. Jen Psaki, a former White House press secretary, runs a weekend MSNBC show and contributes political commentary to the network. Symone Sanders-Townsend, a former Harris senior adviser and chief spokesperson, also hosts an MSNBC show.
The revolving door is nothing new; several members of the Trump administration, including former press secretaries Kayleigh McEnany, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, and Sean Spicer, got TV jobs after leaving office.
For Democracy: A Journal of Ideas and The New York Times, Simmons has authored editorials. He holds an honorary position on the Rosa Parks Scholarship Foundation Board and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Morehouse College and a Master of Public Policy from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
New York City will be Simmons' home base.
