KARACHI: Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon on Monday said that the Muttahida Quami Movement’s (MQM) demand for declaring emergency in the province was not a sensible decision.
Talking to the media in response to an earlier statement made by MQM MPA Khawaja Izharul Hassan, the minister said that if the need arises then any law enforcement agency can be called in, including the armed forces.
Memon further said that those responsible for the Shikarpur carnage will surely be brought to justice.
Earlier today, Khawaja Izharul Hassan claimed that MQM was the only party that had consistently raised its voice against the Taliban and that it was MQM Chief Altaf Hussain who warned everyone about the presence of the Taliban in the province.
He also stated that a province wide operation against terrorists and their facilitators was needed without delay.
