CM Sindh orders IG to take action against brief kidnappings

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Monday ordered IG Sindh Ghulam Hyder Jamali to take effective steps to put a check on brief kidnappings of the citizens and the Madaris (religious seminaries) operating illegally in Mirpurkhas and Umerkot.

The CM Sindh issued the directives while presiding over a meeting of the provincial cabinet here at CM House.

He also ordered to expedite action against illegal migrants and enhance cooperation between police and Rangers.

Qaim Ali Shah directed the Sindh Chief Secretary to speed up the setting up of 10 more anti-terrorism courts in the province.

Briefing the meeting, the IG Sindh informed that two more suspects, identified as Ibrahim and Abdul Basit, have been rounded up in connection with the bomb blast in Jacobabad. He said the are affiliated with the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The IG said that 3 members of Al-Qaeda, 177 of TTP and 200 involved in Lyari gang-war have been killed in separate raids in Karachi.

Ghulam Hyder Jamali said the legal committee has approved 35 cases for sending to the military courts while 21 more cases were being reviwed.

He said the military courts have already awarded punishments to the criminals involved in three cases including attacks on polio vaccination teams, Rangers and police personnel.

The IG told the meeting that proceedings were underway for 3,949 cases in anti-terrorism courts while punishments have been awarded in 45 cases.
