Benazir Bhutto’s killing a national tragedy: Bar

Islamabad

Islamabad Bar Association has termed the martyrdom of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, as a national tragedy. President, Islamabad Bar Association (IBA), Haroon-ur-Rasheed and Secretary General, Syed Muhammad Tayyab Advocate in a statement issued here Saturday, asked for exemplary punishment for those involved in the act of terrorism. They further said that assassination of Benazir Bhutto was a conspiracy against the integrity and the security of the country. President and secretary general IBA said that anti-nation and anti-Pakistan factors were involved in the incident. They said that this cowardly act of terrorism has left a big dent in Pakistan’s politics.

Istehkam-e-Pakistan rally cancelled

Rawalpindi: Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan has cancelled Istehkam-e-Pakistan rally scheduled to be taken out today (Sunday) here in Rawalpindi due to assassination of Benazir Bhutto. Muhammad Zubair Kiyani, candidate from PP-13 told media men that the rally has been cancelled as whole nation is in sorrow and grief due to assassination of Benazir Bhutto. Earlier, the rally was to be led by Central Joint Secretary Sahibzada Nasir Jamil Qureshi and participated by Sahibzada Nadeem Sultan, Allama Pir Ghulam Din, Hamid Raza Bhatti, Hamid Raza Bhatti, Faisal Iqbal candidate from constituency NA-56, Muhammad Zubair Kiyani Candidate from PP-13, Allama Haider Alvi Candidate from Constituency NA-54, Chaudhry Zahir Akhtar Candidate from Constituency PP-5, Syed Mudassar Shah Candidate from Constituency NA 9 and Allama Yasir Majdi Candidate from Constituency from PP-10.



Memorial service for Benazir Bhutto today

Islamabad: Former federal minister and convenor World Minorities Alliance J Salik will hold a memorial service at his residence to commemorate the sad demise of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto today (Sunday), says a press release. J Salik with Christian community will offer prayers for Benazir Bhutto, her bereaved family and for entire nation to have patience in this very crucial time at 4:00 p m.



Plan to improve condition of Bakhshi Khana

Islamabad

A plan has been approved to improve the condition of ‘Bakhshi Khana’ of the district court and process is also underway to shift it to a new and large building. Deputy Commissioner Aamir Ali Ahmed has approved the plan under which the restoration work of the building would be carried out and the building would be expanded.It is noted that at present the building of Bakhshi Khana has the capacity of 60 prisoners. SSP Syed Kaleem Imam has suggested Deputy Commissioner Islamabad to increase the capacity of the Bakhshi Khana and after that the plan has been finalized. It has also been learnt that Deputy Commissioner Aamir Ali Ahmed has started the process of sending the summary to the Interior Ministry aiming to shift the ‘Bakhshi Khana’ to a new building.



Two die of gas suffocation

Two brothers were found dead in their room at a house here in `Satra Meel’ in the area of Bhara Kahu police, the police said. The police said they died due to suffocation as they left a coal stove on fire before going to sleep Friday night. Two brothers identified as Shafique and Hanif hail from Khanewal and were employed at a local petrol pump. Police are looking into the matter.



DWP meets on Jan 5

Islamabad: The 6th meeting of Central Development Working Party (CDWP)’s planning commission would be held on January 05. Deputy Chairman Planning Commission, Dr Akram Sheikh would preside over the meeting. The projects of power, water, human resource

development, higher education and environment sectors costing Rs80 billion would be approved in the meeting.



Defence minister denounces Benazir’s assassination

Rawalpindi: Caretaker minister for Defence and Defence Production, Syed Salim Abbas Jilani has strongly denounced the brutal assassination of Benazir Bhutto and termed it a national tragedy, says a press release. He said that the assassination was a conspiracy by the anti-Pakistani elements to weaken and destabilise Pakistan. The minister said that a high level inquiry has been ordered to this unfortunate incident and perpetrators of this heinous crime would soon be taken to task. In his condolence message to the bereaved family, the minister expressed profound grief over the sad demise of Benazir Bhutto and prayed to Almighty Allah to shower his blessings on the departed soul and grant courage and fortitude to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss with equanimity.
