SALU body to probe fake degree

KHAIRPUR: The Vice Chancellor of the Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, Neilofer Shaikh, on Wednesday constituted a probe committee to investigate into the issuance of fake degrees by the university administration. The committee comprises Registrar of the SALU, Director Planning Noorullah Malik, Controller Examinations Noor Ahmed Memon and two others. The committee will probe the complaints regarding the fake degrees issued to candidates after a candidate on PS-90 Keamari, Arif Baloch, challenged the BSc degree of PPP candidate Zulfiqar Younis in an Election Tribunal in Karachi. The tribunal sent the degree to SALU for verification and the varsity administration declared the degree as fake.

Reports said the tribunal, by finding lapses in awarding degrees, ordered the SALU Registrar to appear before the tribunal and submit the record of the degree awarded to Zulfiqar Younis.

Following this, the SALU VC issued the suspension orders of deputy controller semester examinations Shaikh Rafique Ahmed, superintendents Ali Murad Behan, Shabir Ahmed Kumbher and clerks Rashid Chana and Qamer Chana. Simultaneously, she also ordered for the constitution of an enquiry committee to probe against them.
