August 19, 2010
KARACHI: Ansar Burney Trust International Chairman Ansar Burney has requested President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani in the greater interest of peace and love in the region to accept the donation offered by the Indian government for the flood affectees on humanitarian grounds, says a press release on Wednesday.
Ansar Burney questioned President Zardari and Prime Minister Gilani that on the one hand they were begging to world for help and accepting all donations and on the other hand why they were not accepting such donation from India? He urged the Pakistan Government to accept the same from India as well or refuse to all.
Ansar Burney said that that was the first time that Indian government had shown a very positive attitude towards Pakistan after the Bombay attacks and the Government of Pakistan should respond positively to the kind gesture of love of the Indian government for the sake of flood victims and also for the sake of peace in the region.
Ansar Burney further said that right now a vast area of Pakistan had been affected by the flood and hundreds of thousands of people had been dislocated from their homes, that was the time we should get all the help we could so as to repatriate these victims of flood to their homes. He said that that was not the time to bring bad memories from the past or to scratch the old wounds.
Burney added that Indian Foreign Minister SM Krishna had brought forward a friendly hand by announcing five million dollars in flood fund and Pakistan should hold this hand with the same friendly spirit.
He said, “Pakistan is in a critical state right now and this is the time we rise above our personal or political preferences and make our decisions for benefit of the people of Pakistan and also appreciate all the help we get from our friends in this difficult time.” Ansar Burney thanked all those who are helping the people of Pakistan in this challenging period.
