Peshawar school attackers identified

PESHAWAR: Security agencies have identified seven attackers, all local militants, who carried out the attack on the Army Public School and College on the Warsak Road, killing 146 people, including 135 children, and injuring over 120 others.
The high-level team investigating the incident has also nominated top 16 militant commanders of various groups as the planners of the attack, a source said on Wednesday.
“Those who carried out the attack on the school and were later gunned down included Abu Zar, Umar, Imran, Yousaf, Uzair, Qari and Chamnay alias Chamtoo,” said an official who wished not to be named.
The Counter-Terrorism Department has lodged the first information report in the Tuesday’s school attack. All these seven attackers have been nominated in the investigation into the case.
Besides, 16 top militant commanders of various groups of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and other groups have also been nominated in the investigation for planning the attack on the school — the worst-ever terror attack in the history of the country.
Investigators claimed that that all these commanders held a meeting in a border area in which the attack on the school was finalised. They further claimed that training to the seven suicide bombers who carried out the attack was given in the Sheen Drang Markaz in Bara, Khyber Agency.
“Those who attended the meeting for planning the attack on the Army Public School included TTP chief Fazlullah, Sheikh Khalid Haqqani, Saifullah, Hafiz Saeed of TTP Orakzai, Hafiz Daulat, Sarwar Shah of TTP Swabi, Maulvi Faqir of TTP Bajaur, Hafiz Gul Bahadur, chief of his own faction of TTP, Qari Shakil of TTP Mohmand Agency, Aslam Farooqi, Aurangzeb alias Imar of TTP Tariq Group, Qari Saifullah, Jan Wali, Lashkar-e-Islam chief Mangal Bagh and his son Ajnabi,” the investigation claimed.
