Only 0.8m extra ballot papers printed: ECP

November 29, 2014

ISLAMABAD: Rejecting the allegations levelled by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has said that in the general elections 2013, only 800,000 additional ballot papers were printed and that too due to technical reasons.
In a statement issued on Friday, it was stated that the PTI’s charge of printing 5.5 million ballot papers was baseless. All the ballot papers were printed in the Printing Corporation of Pakistan (PCP).
It was observed that the total number of voters in the general elections was 86.1 million and 172.2 million papers were needed for national and provincial assemblies. However, the PCP printed 173 million ballot papers. As per the statement, there are 100 papers in a single book, due to which extra ballot papers are to be printed.
