Court records statements of applicants

KARACHI: The court of District and Sessions Judge, South, Ahmad Saba on Saturday recorded statements of applicants in a defamation petition filed by JSCL (Jahangir Siddiqui and Company Limited) and JS Bank.
The court has set January 16 for hearing.
From JSCL, the company secretary and chief financial officer, and, from JS Bank, the bank president recorded the statements.
According to details, the complaint was filed regarding a private TV channel programme hosted by anchorperson Mubashir. Mubashar and the guests in his programme allegedly passed fictitious remarks about Jahangir Siddiqui, his family and his partner companies. The defamatory comments were given by Aqeel Karim Dhedhi, Iftikhar Shafi, Khalil Masood and Muhammad Ali.
Aqeel Karim Dhedhi is a self-proclaimed competitor of JS Group. Iftikhar Shafi is an investor who invests in the stock market, and bore losses due to his wrong decisions and blamed JS Group for it. Khalil Masood is a former chairman of Security Exchange Commission of Pakistan. All these respondents have collectively conspired against the JSCL and the JS Bank.
The petitioners, while having recorded CD and its manuscript of the broadcast defamatory comments, had prayed to the court to summon the respondents and start a trial against them.
