PESHAWAR: At a time when Pakistan has been raising the CIA-operated drone attacks on its territory on every world forum, US drone early Thursday fired two missiles that hit a mini-truck in Miranshah, the headquarters of volatile North Waziristan tribal region.
There were conflicting reports about the casualties. Some local residents in Miranshah said the drone fired two missiles and hit a mini-truck and killed three people.
Tribal elders and government officials, however, denied any human loss in the latest drone strikes.
“Three men had just came in this truck had arrived and entered into nearby house when the drone fired missiles on the vehicle parked in the street,” a local resident, Siffatullah Khan said.
He was, however, unable to provide information about identity of the slain people and said, “Everybody knows who are being targeted in drone attacks.”
The tribal elders, however, denied human casualties.
A noted tribal elder on condition of anonymity said the drone missed its target but hit their vehicle. He said four drones were noticed hovering over the area after the missile attack.
