Mobile companies directed to end night packages

ISLAMABAD: The government has strictly directed mobile phone operators to end the night packages, Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunications Anusha Rehman told the Senate on Monday.Responding to a motion moved by Senator Tahir Hussain Mashhadi, she said the night packages had tried to destroy our culture.Minister for State, Frontier Regions and Kashmir Affairs Barjees Tahir said the government had directed the mobile companies to end the night packages. But the companies had gone to the Supreme Court against the decision of the Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA). The SC has not granted them stay.Meanwhile, Senator Babar Ghauri, speaking on a point of order, appreciated the merit policy of the government.
