7,858 held in two months: Peshawar Police

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police arrested 7,858 accused and seized huge quantity of ammunition and explosives during the last two months.
A communiqué issued from the Central Police Office said two miscreants were shot dead, six kidnapped persons were recovered and 10 kidnappers were apprehended during the period. The police also recovered three vehicles and three motorcycles between April 20 and July 18, the official statement said.
The police also recovered 787 Kalashnikovs rifles, 412 Kalakovs, 1823 rifles/short guns, 5535 pistols, 1241 chargers, 19 hand grenades, 273687 cartridges of different bores, one rocket launcher, 1323 detonators, three bombs, 7kg IED, 4570 crackers and 17817kg explosive materials. The force also seized 3,695kg hashish, 91 kg heroin and 8,919 bottles of liquor during the period.
