Bomb goes off on bus near Peshawar
PESHAWAR: A bomb went off on a bus near the Motorway Toll Plaza while another exploded inside the house of a local teacher in the Scheme Chowk on the Kohat Road as the police recovered a huge quantity of explosives from a house in the FG Colony in the provincial capital on Wednesday.
Police said a magnet bomb attached to the bus of the Daewoo company carrying passengers from Peshawar to Lahore was detected by an alert passenger before it could explode.
The bus was stopped in time. “As all the passengers of the bus were offloaded, the bomb went off and damaged the vehicle. No casualty was reported since all the passengers had disembarked by the time the bomb went off,” a police official said. It is being investigated as to whether someone attached the bomb with the moving bus or it was planted inside it at the Daewoo stand.
An hour earlier, a bomb went off inside the house of a schoolteacher Ghulam Sadiq at the Scheme Chowk on the Kohat Road. Eyewitnesses said unidentified motorcyclists threw an explosive and escaped after which the explosion occurred inside the house.
No casualty was reported in the blast that damaged the boundary wall of the house. Police said one kilogram each of explosives were used in both the incidents. In a related development, the cops during a raid on a house in FG Colony near Hassan Garhi recovered a huge quantity of explosives and arrested one person.

The raid was conducted to arrest one Qari Iqbal. However, reports said he had escaped before the raid. The police arrested an unidentified person from the house.
