KARAK/DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan said on Sunday that his party, after coming to power, would rid the nation of US influence by quitting the US-led war on terror.
Addressing a public meeting as part of his party’s election campaign in Karak, he said the PTI would restore peace in conflict-ravaged Khyber Pakhtunkhwa so that Pakhtuns are able to live peacefully after enduring hardships due to insecurity for years. “We will withdraw our soldiers from the tribal areas. The troops will not be used against our own people,” he maintained.
He said problems with Afghanistan would be resolved through negotiations. “We want to help the army get out of this conflict. We want to strengthen our forces and our nation,” he declared.“Peace is the first condition for investment. No investor would like to come here if there is no security,” he argued.
Imran claimed that the people of Pakistan want a change. “We have resolved to bring about a change at any cost to create a new Pakistan on the map of the world,” he said, adding that he won’t tell lies to the people.
The PTI chief predicted that good days awaited Pakistan and the people of other countries would come to Pakistan for employment some day.He alleged that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) have fixed their turns to rule the country and that the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman was also their partner.
The PTI chief said distribution of laptops was not a service to the youth. “The PTI honoured the youth in the true sense by awarding them party tickets,” he said.Imran said those responsible for the rotten system of government could not bring change and the tax evaders could no longer lead the nation.
He said people have got an opportunity to change the destiny of the nation and asked them to support the PTI on polling day on May 11. “In three weeks, Pakistan would change and this would be brought about by the voters,” he said. In particular, he appealed to the young people to lead the march for a change.
Later, speaking at a public gathering at Besakhi Ground in Dera Ismail Khan, the PTI chief said the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) had deceived the masses in the name of Islam. He said that the religio-political parties under the banner of the MMA misled the people of Pakistan by promising them a better future. He said the MMA failed to create jobs and educate the youth during its rule from 2002-07.
Imran said that the only solution of the problems being faced by the country was to make Pakistan a real Islamic welfare state. He said Fata would be declared a province after consultations with the tribespeople.
