10 terrorists killed as PAF pounds Orakzai hideouts

KALAYA: At least 10 terrorists were killed and six others sustained injuries when the jetfighters of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) blitzed hideouts in Mamozai area of the Orakzai tribal region, officials and tribal sources said on Monday.
They said the jetfighters targeted the suspected position of the terrorists, in Chapper area in upper part of Orakzai that is in their control, and destroyed four of their hideouts.
Eyewitnesses Ismail Khan and Mirza Khan told reporters that several empty houses of the local tribesmen were also destroyed in the fresh air-strikes. The sources said after the air-strikes the terrorists imposed ban on the movement of the local tribesmen in the area.
On the other hand as a result of the ongoing infighting between Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and pro-government outfit Ansarul Islam (AI) in Khyber Agency, more than 644 families belonging to the Qambarkhel tribe had left houses and shifted to safer places in Sanghara area in Orakzai Agency.
The political administration of Orakzai is providing cooked food to the uprooted families in Kalaya, the administrative headquarters’ of Orakzai Agency and helping them to reach to Peshawar as most of the families were opting for Peshawar to take shelter with relatives.
The administration also arranged free of cost transport facility for the displaced families to shift them to Peshawar. The registration of the uprooted families from the Khyber Agency continued at Zeira area in Orakzai while the Health Department made special arrangements to administer anti-polio drops to the children of the IDPs.
The sources said that more than 24, 000 persons had already been displaced from Maidan as a result of the ongoing fierce fighting between the two militant groups.
The displaced people said that they left behind houses full of belongings and fled to save lives. They said the local people were facing hardships as they were forced to reach Orakzai Agency on foot through unfrequented

hilly roots. INP adds: In Ghalanai, anti-literacy militants bombed two government primary schools but no causality was reported.
According to official sources, unknown terrorists planted explosive material in two government primary schools for boys located in Lakro area, tehsil Saafi of Mohmand Agency. When the explosives went off, the schools were partially damaged but no causality or injury was reported as they schools were vacant and were located away from residential areas. The security forces cordoned off the areas after the blasts and started search operation.
