ISLAMABAD: Acting Wafaqi Mohtasib M Salman Faruqui has appointed Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi, a retired BS-22 officer, as Grievance Commissioner in exercise of power vested in him under section 7 of the Federal Ombudsmen Institutional Reforms Ordinance 2013 (ordinance No 1 of 2013), to investigate into public complaints against Capital Development Authority (CDA).
The appointment has been made in view of a large number of complaints received persistently against CDA. The Wafaqi Mohtasib’s Secretariat receives several complaints against the Capital Development Authority from the aggrieved citizens, either directly or through media reports containing allegations of corrupt practices, delays, illegalities, injustices to the citizens or the failure of the officials to timely perform the functions assigned to them.
After assuming the responsibility of Acting Ombudsman, Salman Faruqui has been striving to revamp the institution as well as introduce citizen-friendly reforms to ensure speedy redressal of the citizen’s grievances about maladministration in any government agency. The Grievance Commissioner will focus on ascertaining the root causes of a large number of public complaints about corrupt practices and injustice on the part of CDA and recommend appropriate steps for their redressal and eradication.
