Envoy to convey Pak decision to recognising Kosovo

KARACHI: President Asif Ali Zardari has deputed Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Nawabzada Malik Amad Khan as his Special Envoy to proceed to Pristina and personally convey to President Atifete Jahjaga the decision of the government of Pakistan to recognize the Republic of Kosovo as an independent and sovereign state.
In a letter addressed to his Kosovan counterpart Atifete Jahjaga, the president said that the decision of the government of Pakistan to accord recognition to the Republic of Kosovo was made in support of the aspiration of the people of Kosovo who have made immense sacrifices for the independence of their country.
The president said that the government has decided to establish diplomatic relations with the Republic of Kosovo.
The Ambassador of Pakistan to the Republic of Turkey would be concurrently accredited as Ambassador of Pakistan to the Republic of Kosovo, the President said.
The president has also felicitated President-elect Park Geun-hye of the Republic of Korea on her victory in the presidential elections.
In his congratulatory message, the president said that her success in the election was a testimony of her leadership qualities and her political vision.
