Swiss letter will mention presidential immunity: Aitzaz

Swiss letter will mention presidential immunity: Aitzaz
ISLAMABAD: Senior Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Senator Aitzaz Ahsan said on Monday that the letter to Swiss authorities would not be against the president of Pakistan and would clearly mention the ‘immunity’ issue.
Talking to media persons, Aitzaz Ahsan said the government would refuse to write the letter to Swiss authorities if its draft was against the government’s stance. The Supreme Court, while accepting the immunity of the president, had said the law minister could also write the letter, which was a major development, Aitzaz argued.
He said the Supreme Court, not the law minister, was responsible for resolving the Swiss letter issue, since final approval in this regard would be given by the apex court. Aitzaz said it seemed that the apex court had realised its ‘responsibility’ after it sent home former Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani over the Swiss letter.
