President ready to apologise 10 times to estranged Baloch: spokesman

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday reiterated commitment of the present government to the uplift of Balochistan province and expressed the hope that the mega development projects and other speedy measures under the Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan’ package would help address the grievances of Baloch people and bring the province at par with the other provinces in terms of socio-economic development.
The president was talking to Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Muhammad Aslam Khan Raisani and the newly-elected senators from Balochistan who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr. The newly-elected Senators included Ali Madad Jattak, Nawabzada Saifullah Magsi, Sardar Fateh Muhammad Hasni, Rozi Khan Kakar, Muhammad Yousaf Baloch and Sabir Baloch.
The president congratulated the newly-elected senators from Balochistan and expressed the hope that they will work with full devotion for strengthening democracy and democratic institutions in the country by actively participating in the legislative business of the Upper House of parliament.
The chief minister also briefed the president on the status of law and order situation and development projects in the province. The president also assured full support of the federal government to the provincial government for maintenance of law and order.
Meanwhile, during another meeting at the Presidency, President Zardari directed for according high priority to infrastructure development projects, particularly the damaged road network in Sindh as the road and transport sector was the lifeline for economic prosperity of the country.
The president also directed to speed up work on the irrigation development projects besides construction of small and medium dams in the province so as to meet the targets by the close of the financial year.
Briefing the media, Spokesperson to the President, Farhatullah Babar, said that the president gave multiple directions during a meeting at the Presidency to review the

progress made in the ongoing development projects, including flood control measures, roads and irrigation development projects, M-9 project, construction of dams and training of BISP beneficiaries.
Chairman NHA, Muhammad Ali Gardezi, gave a detailed briefing on the progress made on the upgrading of Karachi-Hyderabad Super Highway (M-9) and other ongoing projects.
INP adds: During the meeting with the Balochistan chief minister and senators, President Zardari said he was fully aware of the excesses committed against the Baloch. He said he was ready to apologise 10 times to the estranged Baloch for the excesses made with them in the past.
