“The MPA and his guards escaped unhurt in the attack,” said a police official. The sources said the bulletproof vehicle saved their lives.

The police had not registered the case about the incident till filing of this report.

Gohar Nawaz Khan was elected as MPA in the by-election after the assassination of his brother Akhtar Nawaz Khan in 2008.

There had been a blood feud between Akhtar Nawaz Khan and former tehsil nazim Iftikhar Khan for decades and several people from both sides have been killed due to the enmity until now. Hafeez, a servant of Gohar Nawaz Khan, was also killed three weeks back by his rivals.
