LAHORE Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has said it is our obligation to love animals and make all-out efforts for saving their rare species. He said this while addressing a ceremony to adopt and name leopard’s cub at Lahore Zoo on Wednesday, according to a press release issued on Wednesay. Director General Wildlife Khalid Ayaz Khan, Director Lahore Zoo Shafqat Ali, RO 1 Prof Dr Sajid Rashid, Chairman Department of Zoology Prof Dr Javed Iqbal Qazi, faculty members and a large number of students were also present. Dr Mujahid Kamran said that Allah has blessed Pakistan with abundance of natural resources along with rare types of birds and animals. He said these rare species of birds and animals were facing danger from human beings and these species were depleting with rapid increase in human population. He said that PU was playing its role in protecting such rare animals. DG Wildlife Khalid Ayaz Khan lauded Punjab University administration for its role in supporting animal protection drive. Director Lahore Zoo Shafqat Ali said the naming of animals reflected one’s love with animals. Later, PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran handed over a cheque of worth Rs 200,000 to the Lahore Zoo administration. meeting: Punjab University Academic Staff Association (ASA) general body meeting will be held on Thursday (today) at 10:30am at Institute of Biochemistry and Biotechnology. According to a press release issued here Wednesday, the meeting will discuss Metro Orange Train effect on PU Employees Housing Society (PUEHS) Town-I and decide regarding series of protest demonstrations against LDA and the Punjab government. A number of teachers will attend the meeting. seminar: Punjab University's Department of Space Science will organise a seminar on “Exploring Dust and Metals in Diverse Galaxies” on Thursday (today) at 10:00am at Al-Raazi Hall.
