Man killed, cop injured in crossfire

A man was killed and a constable wounded in an exchange of fire following a scuffle near Hall Road in Qila Gujjar Singh Police limits on Thursday evening.
Police removed the body to morgue for autopsy and the injured constable was shifted to Mayo Hospital. The constable and the deceased have been identified as Babar and Sajid respectively.
Eyewitnesses and police said Constable Babar was on his way to police station on a bike. As he reached near Hall Road, a Pajero with green number plate hit his bike. As a result, Babar fell down. Following the accident, Sajid came out of the vehicle and started exchanging harsh words with the cop.
In the meantime, Sajid allegedly opened fire and injured the cop, who retaliated and shot the Sajid dead on the spot while his colleagues fled the scene. The condition of the constable was stated to be critical. Lahore CCPO Amin Wains, SP CIA Omar Virk and other police officials reached the hospital and ordered an immediate arrest of the fleeing people. No case was registered till filing of the report.

PUNISHED: City Traffic Police launched a crackdown on bikers without helmet and took action against 1,925 bikers over violation. Chief Traffic Officer Tayyab Hafeez Cheema said the violators of traffic rules will be dealt with strictly.
