Soldier killed in Orakzai checkpost attack

KALAYA: A soldier was killed in an attack on their checkpost in Mishti Mela area in Orakzai Agency, official sources said on Thursday. The sources said unidentified persons attacked a checkpost of the security forces in Mishti Mela with heavy weaponry, killing a solider on the spot. The security forces launched a search operation in the area after the attack. However, there was report about any arrest. The sources said that security forces fired artillery shells on the suspected positions of militants after the attack.

Four ‘sheesha’ cafes sealed

ABBOTTABAD: The district administration Thursday sealed at least four ‘sheesha smoking cafes’ in the city.Assistant Commissioner, Abbottabad, Osama Waraich, told The News the administration had received complaints about establishment of “Sheesha Smoking Cafes” in different parts of the city specially at Mansehra Road where young people including students were provided new sort of addiction. He said they took action against all such cafes in the city and confiscated all the equipment. The sealed cafes include Rock Cafe, Fusion Cafe, Mr Cod, Smokah Cafe and Rasalu Cafe.

Gunmen kill minor girl

MARDAN: Unidentified gunmen killed a minor girl in Takht Bhai tehsil in Mardan district on Thursday, sources said.The sources said unidentified persons killed a five-year old Iqra, daughter of Nasir Khan, a resident of Maday Baba and dumped her body in a field.

Six arrested for illegal tree cutting

MINGORA: The officials of the Forest Department on Thursday arrested six persons for their alleged involvement in the illegal cutting of trees in Daral Khwar in Bahrain tehsil of Swat district, police officials said.They took action on the directives of the Assistant Commissioner of Bahrain, Arif Yousafzai and police arrested the accused allegedly involved in illegal

cutting of 337 trees. The court of the assistant commissioner sentenced the accused identified as Sher, Abdul Razzaq, Abdul Jabbar, Muhammad Rafiq, Bakht Miraj and Qadar Gul, residents of Arain Bahrain, to 14 days imprisonment.

One killed in Nowshera accident

NOWSHERA: An auto rickshaw driver was killed and four other persons including two women sustained injuries in separate road accidents in the district, police officials said on Thursday.They said in the first accident a coach (LES-4732) hit a rickshaw in the back while trying to overtake the rickshaw near Watar area. As a result, the sources said, the rickshaw driver Asimullah was killed on the spot while a passenger Amir sustained injuries. In the second incident two women and an auto rickshaw driver Gohar Ali sustained injuries when a speedy car (GAW-63) hit another three wheelers.
