14 booked in DI Khan vani case

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The police on Tuesday registered a case against 14 persons who were allegedly involved in a vani case in Bachani village in the limits of Prova Police Station, sources said.The sources said that one Naheed Bibi had eloped with Imran on March 11, taking away cash and gold ornaments along with her.
The father of the girl, Kalu, got the case registered at the police against Imran, Zafar, Allah Wasaya and Ramazan for allegedly helping the couple to run away. Taking notice of the incident, a local jirga headed by Maulvi Hafiz Amanullah solemnised the marriage of Imran’s sister, Shabana Bibi, to Kalu Khan’s son Amanullah at the hujra of Muhammad Nawaz in Bachani village and asked him to pay a fine of Rs200,000.
The police registered a case against the jirga members, including Maulvi Hafiz Amanullah, Kalu, Imran, Ramazan, Zafar, Sheru, Muhammad Nawaz, Abdul Aziz, Ismail, Ghulam Hussain, Malik Amanullah, Ali Khan, Amir and Haider.
A police official said that some of the accused had been arrested. Drug smuggler arrested: The police claimed to have arrested a smuggler and recovered drugs from him in Paharpur area on Tuesday, official sources said.The sources said that a police party was on a routine patrol in Paharpur area when they arrested a smuggler identified as Fiazul Hassan and seized one kilogram of hashish from him.
