Spain keen to invest in energy sector: envoy

Spanish Ambassador Javier Carbajosa Sanchez has said his country is keen to invest in energy sector in Pakistan, especially in wind power, as country is facing immense energy crisis.
He said that Spain is dedicated to enhance trade relations with Pakistan because Pakistan is a safe place to invest.
He was exchanging views with Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) President Dr Shimail Daud Arain during his visit to the RCCI here on Thursday. Senior Vice President Malik Shahid Saleem, Vice President Muhammad Alam Chughtai, member executive committee and other members of the RCCI were also present on the occasion.
Ambassador was of the view that there are some security issues in the country but in specific parts the rest of the country is as safe as the other world. Pakistan must take advantages of GSP plus status to capture European trade markets, he added. He said that Spain Embassy will assist RCCI to organise single country expo in Spain.
Ambassador said that Pakistan should improve transportation system to enhance business activities between the two states. He said that Pakistani mangoes and textile is very much famous in Europe and through GSP plus it’s an opportunity for the country to explore huge EU markets.
He said that Spain will assist Pakistan in Agri-sector and tourism industry to further boost bilateral trade relations. He stressed that trade volume between Pakistan and Spain will be enhanced and every possible step will be taken in this regard.
Speaking on the occasion RCCI President Dr. Shimail Daud Arain said that Spain has achieved immense progress in energy and agriculture sectors.
