NH&MP holds road safety motorcycle rally

Islamabad
The National Highways and Motorways Police (NH&MP) North Zone arranged a Road safety motorcycle rally on Wednesday with the aim to spread road safety message for wearing safety helmet while riding motorcycle.
IG Motorway Police Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema was the chief guest on the occasion.
Rally started from main Motorway Toll Plaza and ended at Aiwan-i-Quid, Fatima Jinnah Park in Sector F-9.
DIG Muhammad Zubair Hashmi and SSP Mian Saeed Khan lead the rally. Large number of students and teachers of different collages of Rawalpindi and Islamabad along with members of civil society and Media participated in the rally as road safety ambassadors with Motorway Police for this noble cause.
While talking to the participants, the DIG NH&MP said that the purpose of celebration of this event especially on the eve of Pakistan Day to pay tribute to the heroes of Independences Movement and the Founder of Pakistan, and sensitize the general public and student about the use and importance of safety helmet. He further said that youngsters mostly do not wear safety helmet while riding motorbikes and lose their valuable life in case of accident.
The DIG said that in 80% of the cases, youngsters could save their precious lives if they wear safety helmet. This rally will helpful to sensitize road users regarding use of safety helmet. He further added that NH&MP will arrange more road safety events to inculcate a better road safety sense amongst the road users. He said that use of safety helmet is a guarantee of safe journey on motorbikes and this practice will not only inculcate the sense of using safety helmet amongst the participants but also a help minimize death ratio in motorcycle accident.
He informed NH&MP will make Pakistan a least accident prone country of the world and due to stern enforcement 80% of the motorcycle riders have already started wearing safety helmet while riding motorcycle on GT Road. He said the riders should wear safety helmet

even if they are on a short journey on branch roads. He stressed that even the pillion rider should wear safety helmet while riding motorcycle.
At the end of the rally, IG NH&MP Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema distributed ‘Safety Helmets’ and gifts amongst the participants of the rally. The participants were asked interesting questions from the history of Pakistan. Large number of females and children were also present in the ceremony. During the ceremony, a musical concert was arranged for the audience in which national songs were played.
