LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday ordered FIA to arrest Asim Malik, chief executive of an immigration consultancy firm Future Concern and his wife Zobia Rubab Malik, who allegedly deprived the people of billions of rupees on the pretext of sending them abroad.
As hearing started, a representative of the FIA told the court that pursuant to court’s direction 400 cases had been registered against the couple. He pointed out that the couple had fled to England and FIA was facing hurdles in their arrest because there was no extradition treaty between Pakistan and England for the exchange of accused. He, however, said the efforts were under way to bring the accused couple to Pakistan and hoped that both husband and wife would be nabbed soon.
On it, Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi directed the FIA to make efforts for the arrest of the couple and adjourned hearing by March 3.More than 125 petitions had been filed in which the petitioners had alleged that they had given money to the company’s chief executive officer for going abroad but they were defrauded. They said Asim Malik neither sent them abroad nor returned their money.Judge earlier had ordered the FIA to confiscate assets of Asim Malik and his dependents and also put his name on the exit control list (ECL).
